Day 4 - St. Thomas

See my sister's post about day 4 here:
http://www.sydkad.com/blog/st-thomas-the-boat-day

We didn't have any excursions planned for St. Thomas so we got off the boat at our leisure.  There was a "mock" town set up at the cruise ship terminal which was pretty lame.

After looking a bit thru the shops (and finding nothing but bandaids and snacks), we decided to see where we could get if we just walked out of this makeshift "town".  Well, let me tell me you, they do not make it easy, we had to walk past a long line of taxis and out into the road (because the sidewalk ends) and thru the gate. Surrounding the terminal was a tall fence with barbed wire on top!  Sheesh - you'd think we were in prison or something!!  Well, anyways we walked past a small marina and past a few more shops but then there was pretty much nothing unless you wanted to walk the remaining 2 or so miles into town.  At this point Chad says that this is what he wants to do so I volunteer to take the kids onto the boat and just hang out at the pool.  But first I make him walk us back to the terminal to ensure we didn't have any problems getting back "in".
Chad took this picture on his walk.

He found Charlie and they explored and found some hole-in-wall bar that they thought was cool.
Meanwhile we try going to "beach" pool (it has a tapered entry and is salt water).

After ice-cream and me reading for about 1.5 seconds, the kids wanted to go to the kid's pool, so that's where we went and eventually met up with my sister and her family and my parents.

Abby takes a turn with the camera (see her video of Sydney below).

All wrapped after swimming for hours!

That night we did karaoke.  It was family karaoke and I knew Jamie wanted to try it so I offered to do it with him.  Jamie has a cd of old disco songs so we picked Safety Dance because I knew he had heard it several times.  What I did not realize was that the lyrics to Safety Dance are actually sung really fast!!  Combine that with no musical talent of my own and you get one train wreck of a karaoke song. Owell, Jamie was still proud that he had done it and that was my goal to begin with!  Uncle Charlie actually did a really good job on his song! (see videos below)

Anna, I love looking at your cruise photos. My dream vacation is a cruise amongst the Greek Islands. Saving to go in two years time.
