Coronado playground

The playground on Coronado island is the best! Jamie played for so long and still didn't want to leave. Abby got to try her first time on the swings. The kids and I met Chad there after work last Friday and then we went out to dinner at a Chinese restaurant (which wasn't that good), then walked around for awhile.

pider-man an-kaids

Okay, so ever since Jamie slipped in the tub (grandma was watching him, not me) and cut his chin open, he has totally been obsessed with bandaids. Spiderman bandaids, that is. He's even figured out how to open the bandaids up and put them on. I had to go buy him a new package once we ran out of the first one and we keep them on the bottom shelf of the medicine cabinet so he can reach them with his stool and just put one on whenever he feels like it. He usually puts it on his chin, since there is still a scar there, but one day he noticed that I had an ouwie on my leg (I had cut myself shaving) and he went to get a bandaid for me. He put it on my leg and I forgot about it so I walked around with a spiderman bandaid on for the rest of day.

mother's day

Oh my, how behind I've gotten. Here are some pics from Mother's Day, while I wait for the pics from my sister. She was here for a week and we used her camera the whole time. Check her webpage, maybe she's posted them. Yes, she has, check out Sydney Kaden in my links to the left!

The kids and Chad took me out to Chili's for lunch.

a beach, a boy, a ball, and a bucket

This video might seem boring at first, but it really is fascinating to just watch what appears to be the mindless wanderings of a two-year old, you just wonder what's really going on his brain...

last weekend

Friday night the whole family went out to La Jolla cove after dinner to watch the sunset. We actually forgot the camera so we have no pics of that, but rest assured, I'm sure we'll see lots of sunsets in the 6 months that we're here. The tide was way up so we had to sit on the rocks and it was actually pretty cold so we didn't stay long. Just long enough to see the sun dissappear behind the clouds (so it wasn't a great sunset anyways). On the way home we stopped at Trader Joes and then on the way back from there Abby started crying, probably because she was hungry and tired, but needless to say, she did not stop and screamed the whole way home. Well, the point of this story is that as we were driving, about 5-10 minutes into her crying, we hear Jamie in the back seat saying in a soft, sweet voice "wrong Abby?, wrong Abby?". It was so cute. I'm sure he remembered me saying "what's wrong Abby?" to her one time when she was crying hard. I don't think Abby even heard what he said but it was still really sweet to see him treat his sister so nice, especially when he used to just yell back at her when she would cry (either because he didn't like her crying or because he didn't want to be outdone).

Saturday we went to the wild animal park. It has changed a lot since we were there just a year and a half ago. The tram is now replaced by these open trucks that are all hooked together. I don't think it's as great but it was still good. Here are some pics from that day:

grandma and papa visit

It was pretty great having grandma and papa (with the boat) here for most of the week. I hardly had to change any diapers, I got to sleep-in almost every morning, Chad and I went out by ourselves, and the list goes on. But we did have a busy week going out and doing things so I haven't been able to keep up with the blog much. We went to Mission beach, the natural history museum, balboa park, the zoo, coronado island, and rode the trolley to old town, among other things. Here are pictures from the week...

...some of these pics are just to make the other grandma & papa jealous so they will come visit soon!

strange kids

Here is a video of Abby getting air off her walker! She's gotten a lot faster now but she can still only go backwards.

Also, here are some pics of when I found Jamie asleep on his floor, when he was supposed to be taking a nap. Owell, I guess I really don't care where he decides to sleep, as long as it's somewhere in his room and he doesn't bother me. (Naps are for mommies too!)

strange happenings

Okay, so about a week and a half ago when Abby and Jamie were still in the same room, Chad and I were out sitting on the couch watching t.v. when we heard a loud crash. I thought that maybe something had happened in the kids room so I ran in there, but Chad quickly figured out that it had been a car outside that hit the Rio Vista sign right our apartment complex. It must've hit it hard because it totally crunched part of the concrete and made the metal Rio Vista part fall down. I also saw skid marks on the palm tree just down from the sign as well. But we saw no sign of the car shortly after it happened, so it was a sign hit and run! We wondered how long the city would take to fix it, but today they had crews outside and completely took the entire concrete structure out. Who knows if they'll put a new one in, something else, or just leave it.

I took pictures from our balcony the next morning.

Whoever it was must've taken the corner way too fast! It's not uncommon to here random screechings of brakes.

big apartment in the valley

"Little house on the westside" is now "big apartment in the valley". Our apartment here in mission valley is actually bigger than the first floor of our house back in Bremerton. It's pretty nice to have so much room, it doesn't feel like your constantly tripping over baby items, plus there was room in our bedroom for the crib. We can't wait for people to come and visit, we've bought an aero-bed (would people mind chipping in $20 when you come to stay?), and there's an extra bathroom and plenty room in the kids closet (for stuff, not people - don't worry we won't make you sleep in there). There are 2 pools here, each one has a hottub and a BBQ area. The beach is a 10 minute drive, and so is downtown San Diego. Here are some pics I took of the apartment:
