Abby's world

Here's a cute video of Abby in her own little world. The background noise can be a little distracting - Jamie's crying at one point (don't worry he was fine - very tired, no nap!). It's kinda long but interesting to see what she does when she finally sees me there. She usually has toys, but here she's trying to pick something up off the carpet. It's also cute how she looks around at the sudden noises. Sometimes she gets startled if a loud car goes by, and she looks around wondering where it is!

Last Wednesday Michele and Kevin Hill had an overnight layover in San Diego on their way to Cabo. We got the Jenny to babysit the kids and then picked the Hills up from the airport and took them to their hotel. It was already pretty late so we just ate dinner at the hotel restaurant (it was actually pretty fancy). The top of the hotel also had a skybar so we went there after dinner. It was really cool because you could totally watch the Padres game from there if they were playing (they weren't at the time). Which was probably good because otherwise it would've been really busy. We sat up there until almost closing time and then headed home at around midnight. It was lots of fun to see our friends - we miss all of you (and family too)!

Chad's birthday

Thursday was Chad's birthday so we had a little family birthday party. I spent the whole day out with the kids getting stuff for dinner, cake, candles, a present, candy, card, etc. I even got a mylar balloon but that of course was more for Jamie. He was more excited about the party than Chad was, and he now knows how to sing happy birthday.



I made Chad clam linguine. It was the first time I had ever bought fresh clams!

Yesterday Jamie was taking a potty break, and instead of going potty, he decided to put his potty seat over his head. I heard him crying and went into the bathroom and almost died laughing. I tried for awhwile to get it off unsuccessfully (probably because I was laughing to the point of tears), so then I went and got the video camera while I figured out what to do. We turned it around and that didn't work any better. Jamie said "daddy do it" (because dad usually fixes things mom can't), but that would've been until way later, and I kept picturing him having to go in the pool with that thing on! Finally, I just pulled a little harder and it hurt his ears some but we got it off! Thank goodness, I didn't want to have to lube his head up with Joy.

Okay - we're potty training pretty seriously right now so don't be surprised if Jamie is wearing hardly anything in any of these pics!

Kim found me these swank shoes down by the recycling and they fit me perfectly. Apparently Jamie wanted to try them on too. He was actually about as good as walking in them as I am!






Abby was especially persistent in her crying today when it was naptime. When I walked in the room, I found out why. She had got her leg stuck in the bars (and dropped her ba-ba too). I freed her leg without her waking up, but I felt so bad, what a terrible mom not to go in and check on her before she gave up and fell asleep.




Meanwhile, Jamie was building a hot-tub ("ha-pub") with his tools (this is something he imagines doing since aunt curry told him to do so). He put on his safety glasses and it looked so painful with his eye being pulled half-way down, but he was having fun!




Then, later in the day he wanted me to take pictures of him but he wanted to see it on the screen, so I flipped the screen around and he really digged it. Self-portraits 101?




On another note, there is a little girl name Maddie who was born with a heart-defect. Some others at Seaside know her and her family as well. She had what hopefully was her final surgery today at age 3. You should really read her story if you don't know it. I've listed her website in our links. Start at the beginning, which is April 11-17, and make sure you have tissues.

Ocean beach farmer's market

Wednesday is now our day to go the farmer's market our at Ocean Beach. We walked around, bought some grocery items, and got dinner and dessert at some of the stands. Afterwards, we walked out onto the pier. Ocean Beach has the longest pier in San Diego, so we didn't make it all the way out this time. We stopped to watch the surfers for awhile, and it was getting cold, so we headed back as the sun was beginning to set. On the way home, we went to Trader Joe's and I only had a small list, so Chad waited with the kids in the car.

What has Jamie found?

Lately, Jamie will get down on the floor with Abby and ask me to take a picture of them together. It's always really cute, so of course I do! Here's some on two different occasions:






So Sunday mornings are my mornings to sleep in (or at least not get up with the kids). So Chad is supposed to be watching Abby (and Jeff and Kim were there too - was nobody paying attention?), and she pulls the phone out from the tv stand and rolls around with it all the way over to almost her jumparoo. She got it wrapped around her tummy with the receiver on one side and the base another side of her. At least she didn't strangle herself with it!





And here's my last little story of the day: my mom made a video of her singing one of Jamie's favorite songs and sent it to us via email. It's so funny when Jamie tries to sing it himself that I had to take a video of it. I'm not sure what the song is called but it goes: "ooh-ooh ee-ah-ah, ting-tang, walla-walla bing bang". For some reason, Jamie can't say "walla-walla" and it comes out more like how he says "gobble-gobble".

Thursday I took the kids to a pool party that Crossroads church has every thursday afternoon in the summer. It is at the house of the the pastor's mother. The kids had a great time. There was a little kiddie pool full of plastic balls that Abby played with. Jamie played on the stairs of the pool for awhile with his squirt gun. Then we all got in the pool and they both loved it. Jamie got to play on the little playground too and with the other kids.
