Tristan's 3rd birthday

Tristan was so excited about his birthday this year.  As things arrived in the mail from amazon in preparation, he was sure to tell everyone about. (His Thomas plates and tablecloth, etc.)  It was thoroughly a Thomas the train birthday!  A lot of my ideas I got off pinterest and it worked out well, because even though it looks like I went all out, it was really not that expensive as I did a lot of the work myself.
I made all cupcakes - double deckers for the kids and black bottom cupcakes for the adults.

I made the cupcake toppers too with my printer and some circle punches. The kid cupcakes were decorated with candy-coated pretzels and drizzled with white chocolate to look like candles, with a dollop of yellow frosting on top. I got the idea for the cupcakes from a Williams Sonoma cookbook.

I used painters tape to make a track on our table and placed our Thomas flashlight with tinfoil "cars" behind him.  Oreos are glued on with frosting for the wheels. I filled the tins up with chips since this was a lunch party.

I took one of the cupcake toppers without a toothpick and made it into a birthday badge for the special boy.

For lunch I served PB&honey sandwiches cutout with a train cookie cutter.  For the adults I made curry chicken salad sandwiches.

Tristan's special cupcake had real Thomas themed candles.

Mom made Thomas cookies - she really went all out on these (I knew she would which is why I asked her)!

Lunchtime!

We borrowed a ride-on Thomas from my friend for the party. We also had a kid-size track in a circle around the house, also made with painter's tape.

Cake time!

Tristan got a cool name puzzle!

Everyone wants to try out the new "flo" (his word for airplane now).
I forgot to take a pic of the party favor, which was just a train whistle and a train shaped lollipop, both items I found by searching Thomas party ideas on pinterest. Amalia told me it was the coolest party ever so guess it was a success!!
