margarita...crazy!

Last week we had our friends Jeremy and Jen (not a couple) staying with us. Chad went to school with them along with James and Adam who are also down here working for the shipyard. We used to have big homework co-ops and study meetings at our house in Lemolo. Joy, who lives in L.A., also joined us on Saturday so it was one big reunion. Well, on with the story:
We took everyone to dinner at Casa de Reyes in Old Town San Diego. Here they have giant margaritas for about $7 or $8. We all got one (except Vanessa and the kids). Jamie figured out that he could say margarita very well, and was saying it with quite the enthusiasm. I then told him that margaritas make you crazy (cuz he wanted some), and so he was yelling "margarita...crazy!". He really liked to lick the salt off the rim and I promise I only gave him one taste, which was at the end of this movie.

Don't we worry - we took the trolley so no one had to drive home!

misc.

My dad and I had a great time going to a Mariners game. They were playing the Boston Red Sox and it had to be one of the best games I've seen at Safeco. They were up, then we tied, then we were up, they tied, etc. I think we were tied 3 different times and then finally we won the game. It was one of the those games where you got to do a lot of cheering. Plus it was a nice father-daughter outing!

visiting the other Stenwicks

Jamie got to spend 2 nights with Chad's parents. He had a lot of fun playing with all his girl cousins (can't wait for Walter to get here!). He also got to feed the neigh-neigh again. The first time he was really scared and needed to have grandpa help, but by the time we left, he had made friends with the horse once again. One night, Abby and I came over to have dinner with everyone too. I think Abby enjoyed playing with her cousin Kate. Kate wasn't so happy about sharing the toys.

scare birds

My dad showed Jamie how to scare the seagulls down on the beach and he totally digged it (Jamie that is). They looked so cute walking together! Jamie now calls him grandpa instead of papa. I'm not sure why, because we were all calling him papa too. Anyways, here's some pics of them running after the birds and then walking back. Also a video of Jamie talking about what they did.

family reunion at kalaloch

Okay, so here's where we spent a big chunk of our time, 4 days camping at Kalaloch. The first day we didn't even get there until about 10 pm and my parents tent was flooded (my brothers had set it up the day before) and my dad had forgotten to reload my air mattress after cleaning out the van. So Jamie spent the night in my grandma's cabin with my parents too, and I slept on my parent's cot in the tent with abby in the pac-n-play. The next day it rained early but ended up being an okay day. We dried out the extra air mattress and put it in my tent so Jamie slept by me one night and then in my parents tent the final night. Abby always woke up bright and early (and woke up most everyone else too) but she eventually went back to sleep.

I can't believe how many people showed up this year! The group campsite was packed full with cars and tents, I don't think we could've fit another person. On Saturday morning, I accidentally sprained Abby's shoulder when I pulled her out of bed and she didn't hardly move it for a whole day, then at breakfast Sunday morning she started eating with her left arm again so I didn't have to worry about that anymore. Saturday was a great day and we all had a good time down on the beach (I realized that we all stick it out through the rain just so we can have a few hours to pretend like we're in California on the beach). Except that of course, there's hardly anyone else on the beach, unlike in California!

I literally have hundreds of pictures from the weekend, so here are my favorites.

eating cherries, figuring out how to spit out the seed...

abby loved to held by grandma...

only my kids - watching movies while camping on the dvd player...

cousin sydney - what a sweet smile.

so much fun blowing the bubbles - stevie and ian had fun chasing them.

both munchkins asleep on the air mattress...

beach bums!

I am way too white for having spent the last 2 months in california!
