 My 34th b-day

wild waves

Chad and Abby went to see Thomas this summer so Jamie and I went to Wild Waves  (in years past we have gone to a Mariner's game).  Let me just say that Wild Waves is not cheap, even when buy tickets at Costco they still stick you for a parking fee (in Federal Way!) a locker fee, and no outside food allowed (lunch fee).  With our less than stellar summer, it was freezing when we got there (at least it felt like it with a wet swimsuit on!).  The wave pool was nice and warm and Jamie had a blast in it.  We tried most every slide and the went back to the wave pool several times.  The river run was still the funnest as I remembered it, Jamie popped under the tube on the last water fall but it was shallow and we were at the end anyway.  After about 3 hours we got dressed and tried out the rides on the other side.  Man, some of them were seriously scary! We had fun and left at dinner time.  We went out to dinner at Dairy Queen as Jamie requested.   It was a great mother-son day to be remembered!

Naval Undersea Museum

During the summer the Naval Undersea Museum at Keyport held a kids program every Wednesday with a craft and outside activities. So one week my friend Sara and I took our kids. First we did the "port hole" crafts (which were a really good idea by the way - paper plates decorated with fish and seaweed that the kids colored and cut-out themselves, then covered with blue cello-wrap). They are still hanging in our dining room so maybe I'll take a picture. Tristan points to them now and says "ishy". After the craft we went through the museum and then let the kids play in the outdoor activities for awhile. Abby got some face painting and Jamie got a shark painted on his arm while Tristan played in the water tables.

Ocean Crest

Let's start our first weekend in August with a trip to Ocean Crest resort in Moclips. We shared a 2 bedroom room with our friends. Kids outnumbered the adults but we all had fun. There was plenty of time spent in the pool, watching movies and consuming snacks. The stairs to the beach had been closed because of a fire but we discovered that we could drive down to the beach just a 1/4 mile down the road. It was nice because all we had to do was load up the car. We also had some great weather for the beach, I can't remember the last time it was and sunny and warm on the Washington coast. And of course with salt water and sand, there were plenty of changes of clothes!
