Easter - part 2

We had dinner at Chad's parents house. Sadly, Abby was sick and had a fever but we gave her some Motrin and she felt well enough to do the egg hunt. I'm so glad that it stopped raining and finally cleared up by the evening and I had a chance to hide all the eggs for the kids after dinner before it got dark.

Jamie and Abby both loved the egghunt but I made the mistake of telling Jamie that is was like a race and he went full force into egg hunting and wanted to know who was winning! Abby liked to point out the eggs to me first before grabbing them, but that was a mistake because then Amalia or Kate would run up and grab it before she had a chance!

All in all, it was a nice day and so was the two-tone mocha cheesecake that I made (sounds like a post for my food blog).

Egg coloring

The kids of course had a blast coloring eggs and making a huge mess.

Look at Jamie's expression in the background!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out and especially to mine! Hope your day was filled with joy and fun. What's a special memory you have of your mom? Here are mine:

1. Fresh baked homemade chocolate chip cookies when I got home from school.

2. Handmade halloween costumes and costumes that we needed for school.

3. The best birthday cakes with whatever we wanted on them (mom would usually draw it herself!).

4. Taking me back-to-school shopping (mom would often use reverse-psychology to get me to pick out what she wanted).

5. Lots of love in our home :)

the lake

With our first few days of warm weather, the kids enjoyed playing on the beach and grandma and grandpa's house. I think they threw most of my mom's rocks in the water this day:

Mr. Frog

point defiance zoo

Our first visit to the zoo this year was about 1 month ago, we had a few drizzles and some sunshine, but it was a good trip. Apparently we got to see the beluga whale for the last time too. One them had died and they just recently shipped the remaining whale off to Sea World San Antonio to be with the other belugas there.

the lemurs were huddled together because it was cold:

I took these next few pictures inside in relatively low light trying out 1600 ISO:

Aw, mom, do we have to?
Angry eyes...
