Balboa park science center

Well, the past two days have been stormy here in San Diego (shocking!), so I took the kids to the science museum at Balboa park (and apparently every other mom in the city had the same idea). Jamie and Grandpa walked around and saw most of the exhibits while I stayed with Abby in the kid zone (which is like a mini children's museum). Tristan happily slept the whole time in his stroller. It was very low light inside, but with my new lens I was able to get some decent shots without a flash!

Here you can see how windy it is...and how hard it is to get two kids to smile and look at the camera at the same time!

The way Abby (and Jamie) sees it *archived

Check out the sidebar for some funny new saying from Abby, she is quite the chatty Kathy and has been saying some hilarious stuff lately. I'll try to update more often. You can see from what she's been saying that she is becoming the safety expert of the family, which is too funny, I don't know where she gets it!

Below is an archive of previous sayings.
Abby:

Nov '09-
"No like football, only like cartoons!!"

10-29-09
Funniest thing this morning: Abby was in her fairy custome for school, she starts bouncing up and down and says "not working, not working!", and I said "what?", and she says "fly, not working!", and trying not to burst out laughing, I say "oh, your wings?" and she nods her yes, s...o I say "well, they are just for decoration but they are VERY pretty!", which seemed to satisfy her curiosity as to why she could not fly!

Jamie:

Jan '10-
I showed abby how to draw no allowed something
1. you take a color and you draw something
2. then you take red and draw a circle around it
3. then you do this (signifies an x)
4. and that's how you do it

Nov '09-
Jamie: Mommy, next time you forget something you should eat more fish.
me: Well, maybe you should eat more fish too.
Jamie: No, I'm already smarter than fish.

More baby Tristan

The rest of the hospital pictures

Tristan spent a lot of time sleeping on Chad or I (and still does).

A mini photo-shoot by the window:

Look at those cute little toes!!

This kid knows how to frown:

I can't believe how tiny he is!

On our way home :)

Baby shower

Sara and Laura gave me a great shower for Tristan just a few weeks before he was born. There was a great number of friends and family who came, and look at all those little girls! Whew-present opening was quite the feat with all those extra hands!

January wrap-up

the blood incident
Several weeks ago Abby cut her finger pretty bad. She did not have much experience with blood and simply said "mom, red hurts!" At first I had no idea what she was talking about but then I quickly figured it out. I took charge and had to wrap her finger with paper towels and medical tape. It took a few days for the wound to close up, but it was healed in about a week. However, anytime the band-aid would get old and fall off, she would shriek and yell until you could get another on her finger.
The incident also told us that our oldest son is also a bit squeamish (like his father) towards blood.
The culprit, a pencil sharpener that Jamie got for his birthday for carpenter pencils:

Visiting the big boat
Jamie, dad and grandpa took the sailboat to Bremerton and toured the Turner Joy.

Gasworks picnic
After my last OB appointment, we got Dick's burgers and took the kids to see Gasworks park, and reminisced about our old times in Wallingford.

Going out
Just before the baby came, I took Jamie to Barnes and Noble for a little one-on-one time. We got dinner at Starbucks Cafe and then we hung out in the bookstore for awhile. Meanwhile, Chad took Abby to Starbucks downtown and they got hot cocoa together.
