There's really not a whole lot of pictures for February, mainly because Chad worked SO much. At the very end of January he started on a special project working 12 hours a night 6pm-6am, 7 days a week. When he wasn't at work he was normally sleeping and we usually only saw him 1-2 hours a day. This whole thing was only supposed to be about 10 days but it dragged on for 22 days. So Feb. slipped by and at least I didn't lose my mind with basically being a single mother and being alone at night in a county with several tragedies over the course of a few weeks. And so on we go with life...
Chad took another sailboat race while I went to a women's retreat with my Seaside friends.
Valentine's Day
I made toast with "heart" jam.
Abby and I made pinkalicious cupcakes.
Point Defiance Zoo
We headed out to the zoo for the afternoon after half-day school on Wednesday. We were so excited for Chad to be done working nights and to get some family time together. We only had about 2 hours but with our membership it didn't matter and we basically had the whole zoo to ourselves.
Tristan loved looking at all the animals.
He really loved the aquarium, saying "ishy, ishy" over and over.
The slides were a big hit.
But Jamie doesn't really like them since he always gets shocked multiple times.
Tristan could've gone down 50 times if we had let him.
We had a joint birthday for Tristan and Carmia whose birthdays are only 12 days apart. I chose a fishy theme which seemed appropriate for both girls and boys. (I originally wanted to do Nemo but no one sells anything related to Nemo these days, especially not party supplies - wonder why?). Anyways, I scoured pinterest for some ideas and found these turtle cupcakes. I had to go to 3 different stores to find all the different gummy parts! (Which are peach rings, gumdrops, and fruit slices both large and small.) I was quite proud of my creations...
I also made banners with fishy decorations and letters cut from my cricut.
We had plenty of kids over for a spaghetti feed.
Tristan still couldn't figure out how to blow out his candles.
But Carmia did great!
Then there were presents where Tristan eagerly opened each one and tried his hardest to keep them away from his siblings!
He gets so excited about presents now (he wasn't that into it at Christmas).
Videos: these are kinda boring the kids might like them!
For Tristan's actual birthday, I made homemade mac'n'cheese and chocolate pudding for dessert.
We gave him some candles in his pudding as practice for his party (but he never quite got it).
Shortly after he turned two, we switched him to his toddler bed. He does very well at bedtime but lately he's been waking up in the middle of night (after being sick for about a week). Some nights I can rock him for a bit and put him back to bed, and others I have to just throw him in the pack'n'play (which I had to get out one night after spending hours to get him to go back to bed).
He also loves reading now and his new little chair is great for him to sit and look at books.
His favorite food is probably spaghetti. But he also loves bananas, chicken, mac'n'cheese, fries and broccolli!
If there is one thing that defines Tristan right now it's Thomas. He LOVES Thomas and all trains. Besides playing with trains he also loves his Thomas books, videos, and clothes too!
What else can I say about our little two year old? And he is little - only 30% for height, and 18% for weight (although he lost some while being sick). He's crazy and makes me laugh everyday. He seems to understand most everything you say but still is quite silent in the speaking department. He does have words for things but it's really hard to understand still. If you ask him if he wants something he usually just squeals "eee!" instead of saying yes. NO, MINE, OUCH, and MAMA are his main words. He seems to have a knack for knowing where things belong. When he helps me unload the dishwasher he actually points to where I should put it! He still takes a small bottle of milk at bedtime but we are in the process of stopping that (just yesterday he didn't!).
And with two comes temper-tantrums (even worse than before)

I took Jamie out for a date, he wanted to go to Chuck-e-cheese so that's where we went. Tristan really wanted to go too and Jamie graciously let him come as well.
Once Tristan figured out the rides he went back and forth between the 4 or 5 that he could crawl into himself.
I suggested that we get a treat at Cold Stone with Jamie's giftcard :)
Chad took Abby out for a lunch date to the Bremerton Bar&Grill.
And Chad also took Jamie sailing for day:
Jamie was just a little cold so he spent most of his time down below with his DS.

He takes almost a full minute trying to buckle-up then gives up.
